Files stay in your browser

Privacy Policy

Our Fundamental Architectural Commitment

MetaData Remover is built on a local-first, client-side paradigm. When you drop images, PDFs, videos, or Word documents into any of our tools, they are processed locally in your browser memory via WebAssembly and JavaScript. Your files never leave your device and are never uploaded to any server.

1Information We Do Not Collect (File Data)

Unlike traditional online conversion utilities that upload files to backend cloud processing queues, removemetadatafree.com performs 100% of binary file inspection, EXIF tag stripping, PDF dictionary cleaning, QuickTime atom editing, and canvas redaction on the client device.

  • No File Storage: We do not host, store, replicate, or retain your files on any server or cloud database.
  • No Content Inspection: We cannot see, read, extract, or monitor the contents, pixels, or text of your files.
  • No Metadata Extraction: Your stripped GPS coordinates, camera serial numbers, device names, and author tags remain solely in your browser memory and are discarded when you refresh or close the tab.

2Account-Free Usage

MetaData Remover is accessible without registration. We do not require:

  • User accounts, usernames, or passwords.
  • Email addresses or phone numbers.
  • Credit cards, payment information, or billing profiles.

3Cookies & Local Storage

We use browser localStorage solely to remember your UI preferences, such as your Light/Dark mode setting (ssf-theme) and default metadata cleaning toggles. This data never leaves your browser.

4Analytics & Third-Party Services

To maintain server uptime, monitor general traffic volume, and support operational costs, we may employ standard web analytics and non-intrusive advertising networks (such as Google AdSense). These third-party providers may collect standard HTTP header data (such as browser user-agent, IP address, general geographic region, and referral URLs) in accordance with their respective privacy policies.

These analytics services have no access to any files you process using our web application.

5GDPR & CCPA Compliance

Because we do not collect, process, or store personal data from your uploaded files, we naturally uphold the principles of data minimization and privacy by design required under the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
